President of Republic Prokopios Pavlopoulos on Sunday referred to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s statements on Saturday noting that “statements for a peaceful co-existence of our peoples are important and have value when they are accompanied by action”.
Pavlopoulos who is visiting Chrysovitsi, Arcadia region, underlined that “There is no issue of exchanging the two Greek servicemen that are held in Edirne prison with the eight Turkish citizens that are in Greece”.
“I want to say that President Erdogan’s statements on the peaceful co-existence are very welcome for us but they have value when they are accompanied by actions and this does not occur from his statements on the exchange of the Greek with the Turkish servicemen. We state that this is unacceptable. It is really sad such a confusion over two servicemen that are held arbitrarily and Turkish citizens that have been granted political asylum, according to the rules of the International Law to prevail. Such confusion means ignorance of the International Law and of the international legality which is unacceptable”.
