ΓΙΟΥΝΚΕΡ ΚΑΙ ΤΟΥΣΚ ΕΝΗΜΕΡΩΝΟΝΤΑΙ ΓΙΑ τα «έργα» του κ. Κοτζιά

Ο Μάριο Βάργκας Γιόσα, ο Μαρκ Μαζάουερ, ο Ρόντρικ Μπίτον, ο Χάρολντ Μπλουμ, ο Ίαν μακ Γιούαν, η Φραγκίσκη Αμπατζοπούλου, ο Νοάμ Τσόμσκι, ο ΤΖ. Μ. Κουτσί, η Τζόις Κάρολ Όουτς, ο Σταύρος Ζουμπουλάκης, ο Τζόφρι Ευγενίδης, ο Μαρκ Λίλα, ο Έντμουντ Κίλι, ο Πίτερ Μάκριτζ, η Μαρία Παπαδήμα, η Νταϊάνα Χάας, ο Ντάνιελ Μέντελσον, ο Δημήτρης Δημηρούλης και ο Αλέξανδρος Νεχαμάς είναι ανάμεσα στους εκατοντάδες νομπελίστες, επιφανείς πανεπιστημιακούς και συγγραφείς, Έλληνες και –ιδίως– ξένους, που ενημέρωσαν τους κ. Ζαν Κλοντ Γιούνκερ, Πρόεδρο της Ευρωπαϊκής Επιτροπής και Ντόναλντ Τουσκ, Πρόεδρο του Ευρωπαϊκού Συμβουλίου, για τη συνεχιζόμενη δίωξη του περιοδικού «Athens Review of Βooks» (ARB) από τον μέχρι πρότινος υπουργό Εξωτερικών της Ελλάδας, τον κ. Νίκο Κοτζιά, ζητώντας την παρέμβασή τους υπέρ του πρώτου.

Υπενθυμίζω ότι η ιστορία είχε ξεκινήσει το 2010, όταν η ARB είχε δημοσιεύσει γράμμα του κ. Ανδρέα Παππά, σύμφωνα με το οποίο ο κ. Κοτζιάς ήταν «γκαουλάιτερ του σταλινισμού», είχε σπουδάσει στην Ανατολική Γερμανία και είχε πρωτοστατήσει στη δράση του ΚΚΕ. Στηριγμένος στα παραπάνω, ο κ. Κοτζιάς έκανε αγωγή στο περιοδικό, ζητώντας αποζημίωση 250.000 ευρώ.

Ακολούθησε μακρά δικαστική διαμάχη, τόσο στα πολιτικά, όσο και στα ποινικά δικαστήρια – διαμάχη στην οποία δεν υπήρξα ουδέτερος παρατηρητής: επίσης ως πρώην μέλος της ΚΝΕ και του ΚΚΕ, αλλά και φίλος των εκδοτών της ARB (τότε ήταν οι κ. Μανώλης Βασιλάκης και Ηλίας Κανέλλης, στη συνέχεια μόνο ο πρώτος) και του κ. Παππά, υπήρξα μάρτυρας που στήριξε την πλευρά της ARB.

Ο κ. Κοτζιάς είχε σπουδάσει στη Δυτική Γερμανία, πλην όμως όταν η λανθασμένη πληροφορία είχε πρωτοδημοσιευτεί, πολλά χρόνια πριν, δεν την είχε διαψεύσει, ίσως γιατί τη θεωρούσε τιμητική. Το θυμήθηκε όμως και τη διέψευσε, όταν πληροφορία ξαναδημοσιεύτηκε στην ARB. Ακόμα, ο κ. Κοτζιάς είχε αρχικά αρνηθεί και τη δράση του στο ΚΚΕ, αλλά στη συνέχεια αυτό το σημείο το άλλαξε, γιατί και οι πέτρες ξέρανε ότι ήταν επιφανέστατο στέλεχος τόσο της ΚΝΕ, όσο και του ΚΚΕ.

Απόμεινε το «γκαουλάιτερ του σταλινισμού», τουτέστιν έντονα σταλινικός. Πάνω σ’ αυτό στηρίχτηκαν δικαστικές αποφάσεις του 2015 και του 2017, που, παραβλέποντας ότι ο κ. Κοτζιάς υπήρξε –μεταξύ άλλων– «συγγραφέας βιβλίων με τα οποία υμνούσε το ολοκληρωτικό καθεστώς Χόνεκερ και τη δικτατορία Γιαρουζέλσκι», θεώρησαν αυτή την «αξιολογική πολιτική κρίση για ένα δημόσιο πρόσωπο» συκοφαντική και επιδίκασαν στον κ. υπουργό αποζημιώσεις τόσο ψηλές, ώστε –εφόσον καταβληθούν– το περιοδικό δεn θα μπορεί πια να κυκλοφορήσει. Φυσικά η υπόθεση μεταφέρθηκε, τελικά, σε ευρωπαϊκό δικαστικό επίπεδο. Καθώς μάλιστα ο κ. Κοτζιάς δήλωσε «θήτευσα στη σταλινική αριστερά» (23.10.2018), το πράγμα απόχτησε νέα ενδιαφέρουσα διάσταση.

Τώρα εκατοντάδες επιφανείς πανεπιστημιακοί του τομέα των Γραμμάτων και συγγραφείς, παρακινημένοι από τη «New York Review of Books», παρεμβαίνουν στο θέμα, με τα λόγια: «Κύριε Πρόεδρε της Ευρωπαϊκής Επιτροπής, κύριε Πρόεδρε του Ευρωπαϊκού Συμβουλίου, σας παρακαλούμε να εξαντλήσετε όλα τα μέσα που διαθέτει η Επιτροπή και το Συμβούλιο για να σώσει ένα έντυπο που τιμά τα ελληνικά γράμματα και τον ελληνικό Τύπο». Η έκκληση προς τους δυο προέδρους στηλιτεύει τον κ. Κοτζιά, ο οποίος ναι μεν δεν είναι πια υπουργός των Εξωτερικών, παραμένει όμως κυβερνητικός βουλευτής, και μάλιστα Επικρατείας. Ο κ. Κοτζιάς κατηγορείται ότι «έχει δεσμεύσει τους λογαριασμούς της εκδότριας και του διευθυντή της ARB και τα έσοδα του περιοδικού από το Πρακτορείο Διανομής Τύπου, με προφανή στόχο το κλείσιμό του».

Σύμφωνα με τους υπογράφοντες, «υπάρχουν ενδείξεις ότι ο υπουργός και η κυβέρνηση επενέβησαν στην λειτουργία της Δικαιοσύνης προκειμένου να ευοδωθεί η δίωξη κατά του περιοδικού».

Στη συνέχεια, «ανοίγοντας» το ζήτημα, οι υπογράφοντες υποστηρίζουν ότι «η μεθόδευση της πολυετούς εξοντωτικής δίωξης της ARB αποτελεί ακραία κατάχρηση της δυνατότητας που δίνει ο ελληνικός νόμος στους πολιτικούς να ασκούν αγωγές για αποζημίωση κατά εντύπων ζητώντας υπέρογκα ποσά. Και μάλιστα να τις κερδίζουν, παρά την νομολογία του Ευρωπαϊκού Δικαστηρίου Δικαιωμάτων του Ανθρώπου, εκφοβίζοντας έτσι τον Τύπο και αποτρέποντας την άσκηση πολιτικής κριτικής».

Και καταλήγουν: «Περίπτωση τόσο παράλογης και τόσο απηνούς καταδίωξης όσο αυτής του (πρώην) Υπουργού Εξωτερικών εναντίον της ARB δεν έχουμε γνωρίσει τις τελευταίες δεκαετίες στην Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση».

«Ο υπουργός και η κυβέρνηση επενέβησαν στην λειτουργία της Δικαιοσύνης… Εκφοβίζοντας τον Τύπο… Δεν έχουμε γνωρίσει τις τελευταίες δεκαετίες στην Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση», σταχυολογώ κι επαναλαμβάνω. Απορεί λοιπόν κανείς που ο σημερινός υπουργός Εξωτερικών, o και συνταγματολόγος κ. Γιώργος Κατρούγκαλος, καθώς και ο πρωθυπουργός, ο καθ’ όλα οξύνους κ. Τσίπρας, δε βλέπουν πόσο κακό κάνει στη χώρα αυτή η ιστορία, πόσο κοντά τη φέρνει όχι μόνο στον λίαν αρεστό τους κ. Μαδούρο της Βενεζουέλας, αλλά και στον διόλου αρεστό τους –ισχύει άραγε;– κ. Όρμπαν της Ουγγαρίας.
