The European Commission on Thursday declined to comment on the alleged involvement of Greek European Commissioner Dimitris Avramopoulos in the Novartis investigation in Greece.
European Commission spokesman Margaritis Schinas noted that “Commissioner Avramopoulos make some statements on Wednesday, in which he clarified his position regarding the facts referring to the period he served as health minister. The Commission has nothing more to add to the Commissioner’s statements”.
Asked if European Commission President Jean Claude Juncker has been informed about this development, Schinas said that Juncker “is closely following the affairs of the specific Commissioner and has constant contact with all members of the College of Commissioners”.
