Resolving the decades-old name dispute between Athens and Skopje is in Greece’s national interest and in the interest of the region, Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias reportedly told Reuters in an interview published on Thursday.
The foreign minister reiterated that Greece is preparing a draft agreement to resolve the dispute with its neighbor.
“It won’t be a Greek text containing only our views, nor a done deal-compromise. It will be a text which we consider could be the basis upon which we could start to cooperate,” he said.
The draft is expected to be ready in February, the minister said, adding that an agreement with Skopje could be achieved in the coming months.
