A female climber, who fell while hiking near the peak of Stefani or “Thronos Dios” (Throne of Zeus) at a height of about 2,800 metres, has been transferred to the “Giosos Apostolidis” refuge, after the Air Force Super Puma helicopter was unable to reach her and take her to hospital.
The rescue operation was launched on Saturday morning by the Hellenic Rescue Team in Mount Olympus after the refuge alerted authorities and the team. The helicopter searching the area run out of fuel and returned to its base but the operation will resume on Sunday.
According to information, the woman is in her thirties and is said to be seriously injured.
