Prosecutor requests asset information on politicians named in Novartis case

An anti-corruption prosecutor requested bank and other asset information on Tuesday on two former prime ministers and eight former ministers named in the Novartis case of alleged bribery and money laundering.
Prosecutor Eleni Touloupaki asked for statements from banks and the Hellenic Capital Market Commission, both for the politicians and their spouses and adult children, to investigate possible money laundering liability.
A parliamentary committee is separately expected to deliver a report this month as to whether the politicians committed breach of faith during their tenure.
The ten include former prime ministers Antonis Samaras and Panagiotis Pikrammenos, and current European Commissioner for Migration Dimitris Avramopoulos, former health minister.
