Offers for the sale of a majority stake in gas grid operator DESFA will open in a week and if the difference between them is larger than 15 percent the tender will be awarded immediately to the highest bidder, Energy Minister George Stathakis said on Thursday in an interview with radio station “Kokkino”.
Stathakis said if the difference between the offers is smaller than 15 percent, there will be a second round of tendering.
Asked about the progress made in the sale of PPC’s lignite-powered plants he said the government is preparing the relevant legislation.
“We are at the last phase of developing the law. We are in communication about its final version with the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Competition (DG COMP) and of course with PPC, who is responsible for implementing it. By the end of the month, we will be ready to move forward,” he said.
Greece received in February two binding bids for a 66 percent stake in its DESFA, whose sale is a condition of the country?s adjustment program.
