Anarchists clashed with riot police during a Pan-Balkan Internationalist rally held at the center of Thessaloniki on Saturday afternoon to protest against nationalism in the region and in solidarity to the Libertatia squat which was burned by far-right groups during the “Macedonia rally” in the city in January.
According to police, a number of protesters threw petrol bombs against policemen who responded with teargas. Authorities estimate about 2,000 anti-establishment protesters from Greece and the Balkans participated in the rally.
During the march, traffic was interrupted on Egnatia Avenue, from Vardaris to 3rd September Street.
