Greek exports up 18.5 pct in January

Greek exports jumped 18.5 pct in January this year compared with the same month in 2017, helping to reduce the country?s trade deficit by 14.8 pct in the month, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Friday. The statistics service, in a monthly report, said that the value of import-arrivals totaled 4.521 billion euros in January, from 4.470 billion in January 2017, for an increase of 1.1 pct (excluding oil products imports fell 10.7 pct while excluding oil products and ships imports grew 18.3 pct.
The value of export-deliveries totaled 2.537 billion euros, form 2.141 billion in 2017, for an increase of 18.5 pct (excluding oil products exports grew 19.3 pct while excluding oil products and ships exports jumped 21.6 pct.
The country?s trade deficit was 1.984 billion euros in January, down 14.8 pct from the same month last year (excluding oil products the trade deficit fell by 31.3 pct while excluding oil products and ships the trade deficit grew 14.4 pct.
