“The elections will be held in 2018,” main opposition New Democracy (ND) press office chief Makarios Lazaridis said in a party meeting on Sunday.
He underlined that the supposedly ‘clean exit’ from the memoranda that the prime minister has announced is another political fraud and expressed strong concern over the Turkish provocations in Cyprus and the Aegean.
Regarding the elections, he said: “It is certain that Mr. Tsipras decided to create a toxic climate to contain the collapse of SYRIZA. But it is equally certain that the country cannot tolerate this climate. The uncertainty discourages investors and the climate of division increases the audacity of our neighbors.”
