EU Commissioner Moscovici’s visit in Greece on Feb. 8-9 “of particular significance”

Economic and Financial Affairs Commissioner Pierre Moscovici will be in Athens on February 8 and 9 for meetings with government leaders, economy ministers and party leaders, among others, in a visit “of particular significance,” as head of the EU’s representation in Athens Georgios Markopouliotis said on Monday.
“We welcome Commissioner Moscovici in Greece for a visit of particular significance, given both its timing and the number of meetings scheduled during it,” Markopouliotis said. “The Juncker commission and Moscovici in particular have supported and continue to support Greece over its final exit from the long crisis, and in the establishment of a stable framework that will attract investments and promote viable growth and development in the country,” he noted.
On Thursday (Feb. 8), Moscovici is scheduled to meet with President Prokopios Pavlopoulos (09:30) and Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras (15:00).
The same day, the commissioner will also have meetings with Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos and “Movement for Change” leader Fofi Gennimata.
On Thursday he will also meet with chairman of the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV) Theodore Fessas and with representatives of the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE). He visit the National Museum of Contemporary Art (EMST), and deliver the keynote speech at the Economist’s “The World in 2018” Gala Dinner (19:30).
On Friday (Feb. 9), Moscovici will meet with Economy and Development Minister Dimitris Papadimitriou along with Alternate Economy Minister for EU Structural Funds Alexis Charitsis. He is also scheduled to meet with main opposition New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis the same day.
At 11:00, he will be addressing the Greek-French forum on “Grece: les chemins de l’espoir” (Greece, paths of hope). 
Earlier on Friday (09:15), he will brief the Greek Parliament’s Permanent Committees on European Affairs, Financial Affairs, National Defence and Foreign Affairs on the future of Europe and the deepening of the economic and monetary union.
