Labour minister, employer groups discuss changes in fine for undeclared labour

Planned changes in the architecture of the fine for undeclared labour were the focus of a meeting on Wednesday between Labour Minister Efi Achtsioglou, the Special Secretary of the Labour Inspection Corps (SEPE) Nasos Iliopoulos and the heads of employer groups.
Meeting Hellenic Confederation of Commerce and Entrepreneurship (ESEE) President Vassilis Korkidis and Hellenic Confederation of Professionals, Craftsmen & Merchants (GSEVEE) President Giorgos Kavvathas, the minister explained that linking the size of the fine with the hiring of the undeclared employee – including the payment of any social insurance contributions due – lay at the heart of the planned changes.
According to a ministry announcement, the measure aims to ensure justice for employees while the meeting also sought to provide a detailed briefing on the benefits of a settlement scheme for paying arrears to social insurance funds for individuals and businesses, as well as the criteria for eligibility
